Pioneer Bookshop to Donate 10% of December Sales to ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø School Libraries
Purchases at the downtown ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø Pioneer Bookshop will support ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-Newburg High School (GHS) and ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-Newburg Middle School (GMS) students during December, when 10% of all sales, up to $3,000, will be donated to the GHS and GMS libraries.
"Since our move to downtown ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø, local readers have been frequenting the store more often," said Cassie Wherry, manager of the Pioneer Bookshop. "We support the GHS and GMS libraries in the quest to spark the love of reading in our teens."
ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø supports the donation as a Partner in Education with the district. The ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-Newburg high school and middle school libraries receive half of the funds in the form of a check and the other half in a Pioneer Bookshop gift card. In the six years that the bookshop has been offering this program, it has generated approximately $19,444.
Shoppers can expect extended holiday hours in December. From Dec. 2-19 the bookstore will be open from 8:30 a.m. through 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø welcomes the participation of people with disabilities. The Pioneer Bookshop is equipped with an induction hearing loop system, which enables individuals with hearing aids set to T-Coil to hear better.
